Employee Testimonials - MIS Manager

BeccaSteve

Steve has dedicated half of his life to the mission at Heartspring. In 1982, he joined the staff as a home paraeducator. Since beginning his career, he transitioned to Crisis/Assessment Unit Counselor, Psychological Services Assistant, and is currently the Management Information Systems Manager (MIS).

Steve is a graduate of the University of Nebraska.  He worked in Nebraska before taking a position at Heartspring.

“I was working in Nebraska at the Beatrice Development Center before coming to Wichita and taking the job at Heartspring,” he says.

The move to Heartspring proved to be more than just a career change.

“Heartspring has been a huge part of my life. I met and married my
wife here,” he says. “We were married in a chapel on the old campus.”

In his current position he is in charge of the technology for the Heartspring campus. He maintains the computer systems and software for the organization. Also, included in that is maintaining a secure network for the campus.

When the current campus was being constructed in 1993, Steve was involved
in planning for and wiring the entire campus for technology that would be available in the years ahead. Today, Heartspring students and staff benefit from that initiative.

But when it comes down to it, the students are what Steve says encourages him.

“I have devoted almost half of my life to Heartspring and have enjoyed the success that it brings to others’ lives. The impossible can and does happen all the time.”

Steve was recognized for his 25 years of service to Heartspring during the 2007 Heartspring Recognition Banquet, July 9. He accepted his award as the audience honored him with a standing ovation.
