Heartspring, Down Syndrome Society of Wichita partner for Buddy Walk
Each fall, Heartspring teams up with the Down Syndrome Society of Wichita to raise awareness and support for Down Syndrome through the annual Buddy Walk. This year’s event is October 6, 2007, with registration beginning at 10 am. In addition to the walk itself, everyone can enjoy food, drinks, face painting, moonwalks, a fire truck and a petting zoo. Plans also include a basket auction filled with gifts from local businesses.
“The annual walk is one of the major outreach programs for us, as well as our our primary fund raiser,” said Susan May, current president of the Down Syndrome Society of Wichita. This is the fourth year for the Wichita Buddy Walk at Heartspring.
“The Buddy Walk is a very special event. Bringing children together is always exciting, but seeing children with Down Syndrome playing, jumping, eating and walking together puts a smile on your face and joy in your heart,” said Cyndi Chapman, Heartspring’s director of pediatric services.
Registration is free, but donations are encouraged. For more information on the Down Syndrome Society of Wichita, and to pre-register for this event, you can visit www.dsswichita.org or call 316-634-8710.
