Teachers from China learn from Heartspring

Teachers from China learn from HeartspringFrom October 9 – 18, 2007 Ms Feng Yuhong (Jessica), Ms Li He (Ping) and Ms Wang Peipei (Peipei), three teachers from The Stars and Rain Education Institute for Autism in Beijing, China, spent time collaborating with and learning from Heartspring specialists. They also served as teachers, giving insight to Heartspring staff. This year marked the third year of the teacher exchange between Heartspring and Stars and Rain.

Stars and Rain was the first non-governmental organization in the People’s Republic of China to address the needs of children with autism. The founder of Stars and Rain, Tian Huiping (Hope), is an amazing woman with a heartwarming story. Much like the founder of Heartspring, Dr. Martin Palmer, Hope is a true pioneer and inspiration to others around the world seeking to help children with special needs.

Since the inception of this teacher exchange, three teachers come to Heartspring every year for approximately two weeks to learn additional teaching strategies and receive hands-on training. Upon their return to China, these professionals find a renewed strength and confidence in the work that they do. This is a valuable time for learning and receiving support. In addition, these teachers present to Heartspring staff so that there is a better understanding of their challenges and successes.

Heartspring employees cherish this time with special guests in which they share knowledge and life experiences. We are honored to be able to provide a meaningful learning experience to Stars and Rain, as they are able to positively impact the lives of children with autism. As a worldwide center for children with special needs, Heartspring seeks to help improve the lives of children locally, across the nation and around the world.
