Rising Stars Experience Social Success

With all participants receiving their invitations for a party in the mail, our first ever Social Stars met for their final group on March 23. Everyone gathered to celebrate their success and practice the skills the children learned over the previous five weeks. While similar to a typical party for 14 elementary-aged children, there were also some very unique aspects that allowed the children opportunities to shine. Read more »

Abbie

Within moments of meeting her, you will learn that Abbie is extremely animated and has an incredible imagination. In school, her academic performance is outstanding and she continues to impress her teachers. However, friendships are difficult for her to develop and maintain due to her Asperger Syndrome. Sam

Sam is an energetic 8-year-old boy who loves climbing the rock wall and taking swimming classes at the local YMCA. In school, his math skills shine and he has been reading since the age of two. His family is determined to not let autism define him and they work every day to give Sam the tools he needs to be successful in life. Read more »

Clint's Crusaders

Our son Clint was diagnosed with PDD/NOS Atypical Autism at the age of 4. Last summer Clint was re-diagnosed with Autism. Heartspring has been a wonderful resource for Clint, helping him with Behavioral and Physical Therapies weekly. Read more »

Almost a year ago our grandson Dylan was diagnosed with high functioning autism and severe ADHD. Chance

Chance, a 6th grader who participated in the first ever Camp SSTAR at Heartspring last summer, learned how to install and maintain programs on an advanced Content Management System. He helped create a blog, a resources message board for parents, a picture gallery, personalized profile pages and games. During the week-long camp Chance was interviewed by a local television reporter and shared his thoughts about autism with her. Read more »
