SSTAR Scouts

The SSTAR Scouts program is a scouting program that is much like other scouting programs in the community. The focus of SSTAR Scouts is allowing the individual the opportunity to acquire the social skills needed to increase opportunities for participation in community programs along-side typical peers if they so choose.

The SSTAR Scouts meet once or twice a month throughout the school year, much like other scout groups in the community. Together the they work as a group on skills focusing on pro-social behavior while participating in activities including role-playing, group discussions, team building games, art projects, and much more. Individually or with a preferred peer, the scouts then work on individual or small group projects. Many of their individual preferences are considered when choosing what activity or project they choose to complete. Expanding the very specific individual preferences becomes our goal as we deliver activities that are preferred, but challenges the individual to go outside their comfort zone to expand their experience and personal preferences.

Participation is not based on first come first served basis. Applications are reviewed and SSTAR Scouts will continue to accept future scouts based on the needs of each individual as well as group dynamics. If your child has not been accepted for SSTAR Scouts, additional opportunities will be available throughout the year. The CARE program also offers Camp SSTAR every summer in the month of June, so please sign up for CARE updates to get up-to-date information regarding all opportunities for your child.

The cost for SSTAR Scouts is $200.00 per year. For more information about SSTAR Scouts please send your email to cerbert@heartspring.org or mailed to:
