About

Student Opportunities

Heartspring offers high school and college students the chance to learn more about working with children with special needs through observation, practicum, and non-paid internship opportunities.

Students must be enrolled in a class/course requiring observation in a special education setting, be required to observe a specific therapy, or have a practicum or internship requirement.

Possible observation, practicum, and internship opportunities include:

  • Special Education Classrooms
  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Psychology
  • Other opportunities, including shadowing a Heartspring professional, may be arranged on an individual basis.

We will do our best to accommodate your needs and hours of availability. However, to do so, students should submit their application and paperwork, giving at least 5 working days notice, of the preferred start date. In addition, students will be assigned and scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Therefore, it's best to submit your application and paperwork as early as possible.

Contact Kristina Baker, Director of Admissions and Outreach to learn more about fields of educational interest, or to schedule a tour.
