The Autism CARE Walk at Heartspring is the first event of its kind to increase autism awareness in the Wichita area. In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, the CARE Walk will be held Saturday, April 4th, 2009. In addition to a one or two mile walk there will be a variety of educational booths on campus, food from local businesses and family activities. We understand that not everyone can travel to Heartspring to participate live in the Autism CARE Walk, so we invite those individuals and groups to register as Virtual Walkers, raising pledges and awareness for autism online. Being a Virtual Walker affords you the same opportunities to benefit Heartspring as if you were right here on our campus. CARE stands for Community of Autism Resources and Education and any funds generated from the event will help benefit local children who are on the autism spectrum through workshops and programs offered by Heartspring. For more information or to volunteer, please visit www.autismcarewalk.org or call 316-634-8761.
PedalFest is a one-day leisure bike ride (Family Ride, 50k or 100k) through the scenic countryside around Wichita, Kansas. Riders are fully supported with supplies and gear (SAG) stops and mechanical assistance to ensure a fun and safe day for everyone. 2008 marked the fifth year for PedalFest with over 200 riders helping to raise funds for the children of Heartspring. This year's ride is Sunday, August 30, 2009. Visit www.pedalfest.org for more information on how you can support PedalFest 2009.
Lights on the LakeLights on the Lake is Heartspring’s signature special event. The 37-acre Heartspring campus is transformed into a winter wonderland with thousands of lights, dozens of lighted displays and our 40-foot tall tree of lights. The Lights on the Lake Preview Party will take place on Saturday, November 21, 2009, bringing the campus to light for the very first time—complete with food, entertainment, live and silent auctions and closing with a “flip the switch” ceremonial lighting of the campus. Heartspring is open to holiday light enthusiasts the Saturday following the preview party until Christmas day; there is no charge to drive through Lights on the Lake, but donations are encouraged. In addition to the drive thru, the Lights on the Lake Hospitality Center will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights in December for hot drinks, holiday treats and photos with Santa. Visit www.lightsonthelake.org for more information.
