Spirit AeroSystems is proud to employ an extraordinarily generous group of people who give a great deal back to their respective communities. Spirit employees contribute countless hours of volunteerism throughout the year and Heartspring has benefited from their generosity. Spirit volunteers came to Heartspring for a day of spring cleaning in May, washing all the exterior windows on campus. In December, volunteers made special stockings for each child in the Heartspring School and spent an afternoon visiting with the children and distributing gifts.
The volunteers also brought a large box of toys so that every child who came to Heartspring Pediatric Services for therapy during the holidays could choose a toy. These volunteers certainly helped make the season bright for the children of Heartspring.
Spirit AeroSystems has also established the Good Neighbor Fund, an employee run giving program. Employees contribute to the fund throughout the year and an employee-elected board of directors determines where funds are allocated. This year, Heartspring was honored to receive a Good Neighbor Fund grant for $50,000 to support the Pediatric Services Financial Assistance Fund. This grant will help families who cannot afford the cost of their child’s therapy.
Spirit’s engagement with the community is driven by their commitment to bring value to their customers, investors, employees and their families. The company believes in the power of partnerships, and supports projects that bring communities together to enhance the quality of life and help to solve local problems in the cities and towns where their employees work and live. Spirit feels that they are privileged to do business in their communities and fully realize that this opportunity comes with a responsibility to give back.
“Spirit AeroSystems and its employees are proud to give back to their communities,” said David Poynter, Spirit Community Affairs. “We strive to ensure our employees have many opportunities throughout the year to give their time, talents and dollars to those who need it the most.
