PedalFest celebrates record-breaking success

WICHITA, Kan. – Heartspring hosted the 11th annual PedalFest bike ride presented by Meritrust Credit Union on Saturday, August 23, 2014. A record-breaking 773 riders participated in the event and helped raise more than $69,000.

The funds raised at PedalFest will help provide financial assistance for therapies to local families and children impacted by special needs through the Heartspring Pediatric Services Financial Assistance Program.

“PedalFest has grown immensely in the past couple of years and the show of support from our community is both incredible and appreciated,” Heartspring Director of Marketing Dusty Buell said. “It’s our mission to continue to add to this success and continue to provide those life-changing services to the families and children with special needs who need it.”

The event offered 100K, 50K and 25K distances, as well as a 5-mile family ride. After the ride, cyclists and families enjoyed the “Bikes, Beers & Burgers” celebration, hosted by Storm Team 12 Meteorologist Ross Janssen. Guests also enjoyed live music by the Cessna Jazz Band, Mumblin’ Jones and Ryan Tittsworth and a beer garden provided by the River City Brewing Company.
