The speech-language pathologists at Heartspring recognize that each student is unique and create customized intervention plans, visual supports and procedures for each student. Speech-language pathologists informally assess the wide range of expressive and receptive communication skills including functional communication, language and pragmatics to determine the strengths and needs of each student. The therapists might provide one-to-one direct services, group services, consultation and indirect services in the classroom, home and community settings. The therapists train classroom and home staff how to run intervention plans and procedures. By doing so, the students are provided with multiple opportunities throughout their day at home and school to practice their communication skills
