Twelve year old David Calisay first learned of Heartspring by listening to the radio and hearing a promotional commercial for Lights on the Lake, a holiday fundraiser to benefit children with special needs. He wanted to make a difference and help children less fortunate than himself. After purchasing boxes of candy canes, he sold them individually for $.25. On December 23, he and his family drove through Lights on the Lake on the Heartspring campus and David donated his earnings, $58.50, and a letter explaining his project.
Friday, January 26, Heartspring representatives, along with employees of AXA Advisors, LLC, presenting sponsors of Lights on the Lake, traveled to Mulvane Middle School to present David with a certificate of recognition for his generosity. KSN news anchor Paul Petitte was there to tell all of David’s classmates about his good deed. AXA Advisors employees also matched David’s gift for a total of $500. David was granted the honor of presenting that check, given on his behalf, to Heartspring.
