Bring your child to every session.
The most important thing you can do is to bring your child to every session. Consistent attendance is crucial to your child's progress at the Pediatric Services at Heartspring.
Be on time.
It's also important to be on time for your appointments because your child needs the benefit of a full session. Most sessions are 25, 40, or 55 minutes in length. This allows a five-minute interval for clinical staff to clean up and prepare for each child.
Check in when you arrive.
Each time you come for services, please check-in at the front desk. Notify the receptionists of your arrival and communicate any changes in your contact information, physician, insurance information, and employment status.
Don't bring an ill child to therapy.
Changes in seasons often bring an increase in colds, coughs, and influenza. If your child is scheduled for therapy and is ill, please let us know so we can reschedule your appointment for another time.
Call when you must be absent.
Please call the front desk at 316.634.8710 when you need to be absent from a session - we would appreciate as much notice as possible. Also, please let us know if you're unable to consistently keep your appointments. This will allow us to find a time more convenient for you and make your previous time available to other families.
If you miss more than two sessions without calling, we'll assume you're taking a break from therapy, and we'll call you to discuss finding a better time in the future to pursue your child's program.
Don't leave other children unattended.
We encourage your participation in your child's sessions, but please don't leave their siblings or friends alone in the waiting area - it's for their safety, and for your peace of mind. Also, please don't drop children off for a session without an adult in attendance.
Communicate with your child's therapist.
Communicate with the clinical staff that is working with your child. Keep a note pad handy at home and write down questions that occur to you. Bring the notes to your child's next session for discussion.
Don't be afraid to ask:
If you have questions about your child’s therapy, our services, insurance or billing questions please don't hesitate to ask the front desk to help you get with the right person to help you.
