Heartspring's Functional Academic Curriculum is designed to teach skills that contribute to each student's ability to function in real-life situations at home, school, work and in the community. Our functional academic curriculum involves math which includes telling time and counting money. Students are also taught reading, which may include recognition of important safety signs or reading a variety of books, magazines and newspapers for enjoyment. We do provide academic curriculum based on state standards for students who are capable of traditional curriculum requirements but are otherwise developmentally challenged.
