Our psychology staff along with other staff makes decisions regarding each student's education and treatment utilizing objective data. Direct observation data is collected 24 hours per day on the inappropriate behaviors that are identified in the Student Support Plan (Behavior Intervention Plan). We enter data into a spread sheet broken down by classroom and group home which helps us with ongoing monitoring and analysis. This observational data is also used by the medical and psychology staff in making decisions regarding uses or changes in psychotropic medications being taken by a particular student. Our department collaborates with other specialists to ensure each child meets their potential. We understand that an effective behavior plan requires close collaboration with other aspects of the student's life at Heartspring including communication, health and educational issues.
