Group Homes

At Heartspring, students thrive in a year-round residential program created to feel like home. Students reside in one of six group homes on-campus or one located in a nearby neighborhood. Each group home on campus has eight bedrooms. All students have their own bedroom, allowing for them to decorate their room to suit their individual interests and styles. Off campus, Heartspring offers our seventh group home, which is a four bedroom home in the community about a mile from campus. This home can better prepare our students for life after Heartspring as they transition out of the educational setting and into an adult placement. All seven of Heartspring's group homes provide staffing for students around the clock. Here students live in a fun, yet structured environment.

Heartspring's homes provide students with opportunity to learn independence skills including cooking and snack preparation, laundry, daily cleaning duties, toileting and other self-care skills. In the homes the students work to help fine tune the skills they learn at school during the day. Each home also has living areas where students can enjoy leisure time and watch movies, play games and utilize computers.

Heartspring is set on 37 acres, including a lake - students go on walks, play on the playground, use the gym and outdoor basketball courts, as well as fish, ride on a paddle boat and enjoy the outdoors, all while safely situated on our campus. Each of the group homes, including our off campus site, is equipped with an alarm system and video monitors to ensure the safety and overall well-being of every student. Heartspring also provides vehicles to each home, so our students can go on community outings and experience life outside of Heartspring (this helps students generalize skills they learned in school to community environments). At Heartspring, we offer a fun and safe environment, with a home setting that provides the proper structure to help each student succeed.
