Ariah

When Ariah first came to Heartspring he communicated with one word demands, gesturing, and by guiding a caretaker’s hand to the item that he wanted. Ariah communicated using a limited vocabulary and rarely interacted with other students in the classroom. Simple transitions, or a minor change in his schedule, caused Ariah a great amount of anxiety and apprehension.

Since coming to Heartspring, Ariah's has increased his repertoire of words. He now uses adjectives and asks for items in a complete sentence. Ariah is more aware of other students in the classroom. He interacts more frequently with students inside and outside of Heartspring and shows genuine concern for a classmate's well being. Ariah now easily transitions from one activity to another without anxiety.

Ariah's progress will help enable a smooth transition from Heartspring to his home environment.
