In the last twenty years, Danille Lewis has been a staple at Heartspring. She knows the organization from the ground up, working as a paraeducator, home coordinator, case manager and, currently, as the director of school support services.
As a paraeducator, home coordinator and lead home coordinator, Danille developed a full understanding of the impact Heartspring makes on a child and his or her family. When she was a paraeducator, Danille worked firsthand with students, helping them learn transferrable life skills and preparing them for their future. As a home coordinator, she managed and coached a team of paraeducators, developed goals for the students and created a positive atmosphere of professional development. She gained even more leadership experience as the lead home coordinator. In this position, she provided guidance to all of the homes on campus.
She took that inside perspective and passion she gained from working in the homes with her when she moved over to the case manager and director of school support services positions. In both roles, she was an advocate for the families and students of Heartspring. As case manager, she revamped the staff-training program and continually updated it to ensure new employees acquired the knowledge needed to better serve the students. As the director of school support services, Danille also handles all of the agency’s abuse, neglect, dignity, respect and exploitation investigations, plans the students’ transitions back to their communities and assists students in their transition into Heartspring. In whatever position she is in, Danille truly has a passion for her work at Heartspring and for the well-being of the children.
Danille graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Social Work, Master of Social Work and Master of Arts in Administration Aging Studies. She hopes to be an example for her daughter through her self-determination and personal career goals. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, watching sports, shopping, reading and attending church events.
