Compliance Specialist

The Compliance Specialist will have the opportunity to help redesign and implement new compliance strategies at Heartspring. This position, working alongside other key partners in the organization, will implement policies, practices, and procedures ensuring compliance with school partner regulations as well as state and federal laws. Our Compliance Specialist will also help implement internal audits that aim to help continuously improve the services we provide. 

Job Description:

Primary Functions:

  • Provide subject matter expertise and collaborate with key players to develop content for operational compliance
  • Work collaboratively with all levels of staff within the organization to build a strong knowledge of and compliance with regulatory standards/requirements across the organization
  • Build, maintain, and sustain rapport with individuals and departments; understanding who the key players are and who needs to be involved in the decision-making process
  • Recommend changes in standards, processes, and identify areas of improvement
  • Custodian and gatekeeper of organizational policies including writing new policies and making policy revisions, uploading new/revised policies on the intranet and communicating final policies to Heartspring staff
  • Assist in modifying procedures or processes that support the policy, undertake fact gathering and investigation activity to monitor the effectiveness of implementation
  • Design, implement, and improve procedures and processes to prevent, detect, and respond to compliance issues and concerns related to all federal and state regulatory requirements and contract requirements
  • Project Manage all corrective action plans to reduce or eliminate risk resulting from non-compliance with contract requirements or performance deficiencies
  • Manage approval and submission of timely and accurate contract and regulatory required report deliverables
  • Conduct internal compliance audits, write corrective action plans and work with various departments to ensure timely completion and compliance with local, state and federal laws
  • Collect, track, curate, and interpret statistical data relating to quality and compliance
  • Lead Policy Cross-Functional team ensuring policies are sustainable across all departments prior to implementation
  • Ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality 

Secondary Functions:

  • Bring a desire to learn, innovate and challenge yourself for the benefit of Heartspring’s organization and the students/clients we serve
  • Assists in data, documentation and communication required to obtain institutional accreditation
  • Conducts necessary research to ensure accuracy as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Education, Training, and Licensure Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Business or similar
  • Preferred Healthcare Background
  • 2 Years of Experience Required
  • 5 Years of Experience Preferred 

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

  • Regular lifting of up to 10 pounds
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds
  • Sitting at a desk for long periods of time
  • Constant use of overall vision with continuous reading and close-up work
  • Hand and finger dexterity for frequent repetitive writing, typing, grasping, reaching, and pulling
  • Constant Use of Hearing and talking skills in person and on the phone
