JOB SUMMARY

The Individual Support Provider (ISP) is responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services to children with an autism spectrum disorder.  Each child in Autism Services is assigned a Board Certified Behavior Analyst/Autism Specialist supervisor who write detailed individualized treatment plans. Within those plans are goals that target self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills for the child to work on each day during each session. The ISP-RBT is responsible for implementing these goals, and collecting data for each goal ran. ISP-RBTs require successful completion of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board in order to become credentialed as a Registered Behavior Technician.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  1. Implement goals based on a BCBA/BCaBA evaluation and written behavior intervention plan, as well as skill acquisition plan to include:
    1. Social skills to enhance participation in family, school, and community activities (e.g., imitation, social initiations and response to adults and peers, parallel and interactive play with peers and siblings).
    2. Expressive verbal language, receptive language, and nonverbal communication skills.
    3. A functional symbolic communication system if appropriate.
    4. Increased engagement and flexibility in developmentally appropriate tasks and play, including the ability to attend to the environment and respond to an appropriate motivational system.
    5. Fine and gross motor skills used for age appropriate functional activities, as needed.
    6. Cognitive skills, including symbolic play and basic concepts
    7. Replacement of problem behaviors with more appropriate behaviors.
    8. Independent organizational skills and other socially appropriate behaviors that facilitate successful community integration (e.g., completing a task independently, following instructions in a group, asking for help).
    9. If restrictive procedures are warranted and approved by the team, use of crisis management system in a safe manner.
  2. Maintain respect and confidentiality for all clients.
  3. Build effective and meaningful rapport with clients and families, while maintaining professional boundaries.
  4. Collect data as written in treatment plan using Heartspring’s data collection system.
  5. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by implementing feedback as delivered by supervisor team.
  6. Build effective and meaningful rapport with other ISP-RBTs in the Autism Services Program to grow and learn from others within the department.
  7. Complete all required documentation for use of restrictive procedures within 24 hours of incident.
  8. Participate in in-services with other ISP-RBT staff.
  9. Met or exceed billing/revenue targets as assigned by the Director of Autism Services.
  10. Prompt and regular attendance is required.
  11. Ensure 5% of total implementation is supervised by BCBA/BCaBA per the BACB’s guidelines for maintaining RBT credential.
  12. Professionalism during the workday, including time management of indirect time and appropriate behaviors modeled for clients.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  1. Participate and encourage ideas to enhance new client enrollment and increase positive social relations with the Wichita community.
  2. Follow Heartspring’s core values of excellence, service, celebration, possibilities, leadership, and integrity to ensure quality services for each child.
  3. Participate in outreach to the general public and medical community, including but not limited to fundraising and Heartspring special events.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL, TRAINING, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

  • Required:
    • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Valid Kansas Driver’s License

 

  • Preferred:
    • Experience working with children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or developmental disabilities.

  • The following training must be completed within 8 weeks of start date:
    • New staff orientation as designed by Talent Development
    • Registered Behavior Technician 40 hour training and Competency Assessment completed by BCBA/BCaBA.
    • Passing Score received on Pearson Exam for RBT credential given by BACB.
      • Heartspring will provide the opportunity and applicable fees to take the Pearson exam two times, after which, it will be the employees responsibility to take and pass the exam by the date determined by the Director of Autism Services.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to perform significant, prolonged, and frequent amounts of walking, standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, reaching, and kneeling.
  • Able to lift thirty pounds or more.
  • Frequent use of portable technology, such as iPod, iPad, computer and keyboard.

Compensation:

Hourly wage ranges from $12.00 – 15.82, depending on experience.
