PT/Seasonal Grounds Maintenance

Responsible for upkeep of all horticulture, lakes, and walkways on the Heartspring campus. 
 
 

Primary Functions

  • Maintain Grounds:
    • Mowing, edging, weeding, raking, and trimming of shrubbery.
    • Replacing ornamental plantings.
    • Keep grounds free of litter.
    • Monitor and remove unwanted vegetation.
    • Amend mulch in beds.
    • Amend soils with organic compost to attain a nutrient rich well drained environment to sustain healthy plant life.
    • Maintain Heartspring walkways, parking lots and streets to keep them clear of obstacles including snow, ice, or any other tripping hazard
  • Operation of tools and equipment:
    • This position requires full knowledge of the operation of a varied and changing set of tools (both hand and power).
      • Riding mower
      • Edger
      • Weed trimmer/eater
      • Blower
      • Pressure washer
      • Misc. hand tools
  • Follow maintenance shop standards:
    • Complies with Heartspring maintenance shop procedures.
    • Completes all grounds, maintenance and repair duties with an awareness off both safety and quality craftsmanship.
    • Follow chemical manufacturer application and safety instructions.
  • Prompt and regular attendance is required.

Secondary Functions

  • Control geese and other wildlife.
  • Painting and light facility maintenance.
  • Other duties as requested.

Schedule:

Part Time (Less than 30 hours per week)

Specific schedule will be set with with Facilities Director

Qualifications:

Educational, Training, and Licensure Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Kansas Driver’s License required.
  • Due to potential hazards of the position, must be at least 18 years old

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, squat, walk, stoop, bend, twist.
  • Exposure to summer heat and winter cold for periods of time
  • Regularly lifts 20 pounds. 
  • Occasionally lifts 50 pounds. 
  • Exposure to noise, chemicals, electrical hazards and mechanical hazards for periods of time

Knowledge & Skills

The individual in this position must be able to follow oral and written instructions, have a high degree of time management skills, and ability to work in a cost-conscious manner with limited supervision, as well as an awareness of the safety of Heartspring students and staff.

 

Compensation:

$13-$18 / hour

Benefits:

Part time employees are not eligible for benefits.
