Speech Language Pathologist

JOB SUMMARY

The Speech Language Pathologist provides speech therapy services to children ages birth to 21 years old in group or individual therapies in the clinic, community, and online settings.  The SLP will help children with special needs and their families gain independence and training through research and evidence-based practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Conduct speech therapy assessments, re-assessments, and make recommendations. Develop and implement treatment plan when indicated.
  2. Plan and provide home programs when indicated.
  3. Maintain records of professional documentation on each client for whom speech therapist is responsible within acceptable time. All daily notes should be completed prior to next appointment or by the last business day of the month, whichever comes first. All evaluation, progress notes, re-evaluations and discharge reports should be done within 7 business days or the last business day of the month.
  4. Formulate appropriate goals and objectives per individual child’s needs.
  5. Participate in outreach to the public and medical community.
  6. Participate in training and supervision of clinical education programs for speech therapy students when needed.
  7. Follow KDADS and ASHA code of ethics, and all Heartspring policies and procedures
  8. Maintain positive attitude and effective communication skills with other members of Outpatient Services, Heartspring staff and families.
  9. Read and respond to email daily to promote effective communication.
  10. Promote teamwork, positive work place environment, demonstrate leadership, initiative and support good customer service internally and externally.
  11. Promote and support productivity for the positive bottom line of the budget as defined.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Participate in professional organizations, attend seminars, conferences or workshops and remain current with literature and technology related to the field of speech therapy.
  2. Participate and encourage ideas to enhance new client enrollments.
  3. Provide observation opportunities and supervision for university students or other future professionals in the field.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8am to 6pm

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL, TRAINING, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

·        Master's Degree in speech language pathology from an accredited college or university

  • Current permanent Kansas Speech Language Pathology license in good standing.
  • Must maintain current licensure with national organization
  • Must successfully complete all required orientation and training conducted by Heartspring staff
  • Must maintain NCI certification (annual)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to perform significant, prolonged, and frequent amounts of walking, standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, reaching, and kneeling.
  • Able to lift 30 pounds or more.
  • Must prove TB-negative status (either through skin test or examination)
  • Frequent sitting at desk
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending
  • Occasional lifting of up to thirty pounds

 

Compensation:

Based upon educaton and experience.
