Cargill and Heartspring partner to enhance nutritional experience for students

Heartspring, which provides services for children impacted by autism, is expanding its cafeteria with help from Cargill. As part of Heartspring’s Expanding Possibilities campus expansion, Cargill is making a $100,000 gift for the newly remodeled cafeteria. An event to celebrate the gift will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, in Heartspring’s new cafeteria.

“For the children Heartspring serves, proper nutrition is a foundational step on their path to independence. We are proud to support the efforts in providing a safe environment to enable learning and development,” said President of Cargill Protein Brian Sikes.  “This is just one of the ways we are helping our community thrive.”

The cafeteria remodel was part of phase one of Heartspring’s Expanding Possibilities campus expansion. The Cargill Cafeteria’s new open layout can serve more students. The space was updated with sensory-friendly paint and noise-dampening materials. The kitchen was also remodeled to create a streamlined food services area and additional food storage.

“We are incredibly grateful for Cargill’s amazing generosity,” Heartspring CEO David Stupay said. “They are tremendous community supporters, and their gift will open new doors for our students.”
