Heartspring hosts annual fundraising gala

On Saturday, November 5, 2016, Heartspring will host its second-annual Light Your Heart with Heartspring fundraising gala presented by Baird Private Wealth Management. The festivities will take place at the Wichita Marriott on 9100 E Corporate Hills Drive. The organization and its supporters will celebrate the milestones reached by the children served and the community partners who make life-changing impact possible. This year, the fundraiser will benefit the Heartspring Financial Assistance Fund, which provides free and reduced fee therapies for children with special needs served in all areas of Heartspring. Last year, the fundraiser primarily benefited Heartspring Pediatric Services.

“After many years and many events supporting the financial assistance fund for Pediatric Services and with the number of growing programs and services available throughout Heartspring, we made the decision to create an atmosphere to showcase the incredible individuals who receive therapies from Heartspring as well as the therapists and teachers who make goals and dreams reachable,” Special Events Coordinator Hannah Henning said. “Light Your Heart with Heartspring gives us the platform to share just how strong we are together.”

Guests will be treated to an evening filled with savory food, festive drinks, live and silent auctions and Ernie Biggs dueling pianos while raising funds to help ensure that children with special needs get the therapies they need for a more independent life. In FY16, the Heartspring Financial Assistance Program was able to award more than $618,000 in free and reduced fee therapies and services to 474 children.

“With every ticket purchased a child could have the opportunity to tell his or her parent 'I love you' for the first time in a speech therapy session, take his or her first steps in a Heartspring hallway or even be invited to a birthday party for the first time because of a friendship made through Autism Services,” Henning said.
