2018 Light Your Heart event raises funds for Heartspring

Wichita, Kan.—Heartspring’s fourth-annual Light Your Heart with Heartspring fundraiser raised $147,751 on Saturday, November 3, almost $18,000 more than the amount raised last year. The event benefits the Heartspring Financial Assistance Program.

"Thanks to the generosity of our donors, sponsors, guests, partners and volunteers, Light Your Heart was a success this year," Megan Berry, Heartspring's special events coordinator, said. “With their help, we can continue to provide children the services and therapies they deserve.”

The Heartspring Financial Assistance Program provides financial assistance for free and reduced fee services at Heartspring. Many children with special needs benefit from more than one type of therapy, multiple times per week. Not all insurance companies consistently cover the therapy costs creating difficulty for families to keep up financially.

With the generosity of community partners and event donors, Heartspring awarded more than $1 million in financial assistance for free and reduced fee services to 445 families last year.

Light Your Heart took place at the Wichita Marriott. The evening started with a VIP whiskey-tasting pre-party. During the event, guests enjoyed dinner, drinks, live music, dancing as well as live and silent auctions. Visit lightyourheart.org for more information about the event.

Heartspring creates hope and opportunity that changes the lives of children with special needs and their families. The residential school, outpatient pediatric services and Autism Services programs aim to help children of all ages succeed by gaining the skills necessary for a more independent lifestyle.
