Heartspring awarded $50,000 grant from Spirit AeroSystems

WICHITA, Kan. — Heartspring received a $50,000 Good Neighbor Fund Grant from Spirit AeroSystems. The funds will help families and children from the Wichita and surrounding communities access therapies through the Heartspring Pediatric Services Financial Assistance Program. “More than 4,000 individual therapy sessions have been provided because of the support of the Spirit Good Neighbor Fund. For children with developmental or other disabilities, gaining skills toward independence and reaching milestones—such as learning to walk, talk, and play—can be hard work,” Heartspring President and CEO David Stupay said, “The speech, occupational, physical, and other therapies that children receive from Heartspring help them gain skills and reach their developmental milestones, and this positive impact lasts a lifetime.”

The check was delivered to Stupay and Heartspring Director of Development Gretchen DiGiovanni at Spirit AeroSystems on May 13.

“For 10 years, Spirit employees have given their financial resources through the Good Neighbor Fund and have contributed millions of dollars annually to local nonprofit organizations,” Good Neighbor Fund Board President Jo Miklos said. “I am proud to work alongside an extremely generous group of co-workers who give back so the Good Neighbor Fund can give grants like this to Heartspring to support the great work they do for children with disabilities.”

“As the need for services grows, so does the need for financial support for families, and the Spirit Good Neighbor Fund has been there, year after year to help,” Stupay said.
