Adapted Physical Education

Heartspring provides adapted physical education classes to all students. Our APE program is implemented by a Master’s level APE teacher and focuses on the development of lifelong recreation skills as well as increasing overall physical fitness levels for children with disabilities. The skills developed at Heartspring (including cycling, roller skating, bowling and aquatics) ensure each student can participate in activities available to them throughout their life. It is our goal to enable all students to sustain lifelong physical activity for a healthy, productive and fulfilling life with far reaching benefits in academic and social areas. Additionally, students participate in Special Olympics as members of the Heartspring Hawks.
