What is Multidisciplinary Therapy?

Our interdisciplinary therapeutic approach brings together professionals from different fields to unify efforts toward helping a student achieve their goals.

Therapists, educators, and clinicians meet regularly to exchange insights and adjust a student’s plans. This integrated approach ensures that therapeutic interventions in one area complement progress in another.

How Interdisciplinary Therapy Works

Interdisciplinary therapy involves healthcare professionals from various disciplines collaborating to provide comprehensive care, addressing a student’s physical, psychological, social, and functional needs.

In our therapeutic educational facility, we coordinate our students’ care around their holistic experience rather than focusing on a single aspect of their condition or diagnosis. Our interdisciplinary approach creates the foundation for students to build upon their strengths and successes, accelerating their growth.

Professionals sharing clinical insights from different aspects of a student’s day and care ensures that everyone’s on the same page toward helping students achieve their goals. We designed our interconnected care to provide students with cohesive, consistent, and structured environments and experiences—wherever they may go.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

ABA’s evidence-based techniques help reduce interfering behaviors and build a strong foundation for future learning.

Our board certified behavior analysts, certified autism specialists, and registered behavior technicians use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to guide essential social and communication skills.

Speech-Language Therapy

Speech-language therapy nurtures language development and comprehension.

We specialize in augmentative or alternative communication (AAC) assessments and utilization so our students who don’t rely on verbal communication (more than half of our student population) can communicate effectively.

We staff a full-time PhD-level speech-language pathologist on-site.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists help children master everyday tasks and develop necessary fine motor skills that bolster their independence. Daily living skills like hygiene, handwriting, and leisure skills grow through occupational therapy.

On-Site Medical Care Coordination

Our on-site medical professionals and consulting specialty physicians ensure students receive prescribed treatments and medications with care. Additionally, this team coordinates students’ off-campus medical, dental, and vision appointments, so there’s continuous communication across a student’s team and care plan.

At Heartspring, we make a greater impact on children with our collaborative, multidisciplinary therapeutic approach that addresses every facet of their care and unique needs.
