Pediatric audiologists tests the hearing of a Heartspring client

Audiology therapy implements a multi-disciplinary approach, often in partnership with speech therapy, to prevent and address delays in other developmental areas, promote long-term hearing health, and act as a building block for other therapies.

What is Audiology?

Audiology is the study, diagnosis, management, and prevention of hearing, balance, and related disorders. Some of our audiology services include assistance for:

Free Newborn Hearing Screenings

Our clinicians can diagnose hearing loss and other auditory conditions as early as possible, allowing for the creation of an effective treatment plan.

Pure-Tone Testing

Pure-tone testing helps measure if a client has hearing loss, as well as the severity of the hearing loss, with a series of beeps or tones at different frequencies.

Tympanometry

These tests examine the function of the middle ear for clients with frequent ear infections, balance difficulties, and hearing trouble.

Hearing Aid Evaluations

Our pediatric audiologist assesses the type, degree, and pattern of hearing loss in a client, and can identify if they will benefit from a hearing aid.

Assistive Listening Devices

These devices help amplify and clarify sounds in loud and distracting environments.

Swim/Noise Plugs

If a child experiences frequent exposure to water or loud noises, swim and noise plugs can lessen their discomfort.

Auditory Processing Testing

Our pediatric audiologist tests how well a client processes and understands the sounds they are hearing.

Could These Audiology Diagnoses Apply to Your Child?

We evaluate, diagnose, and treat common pediatric audiology concerns.

Hearing Loss

A child may miss important hearing milestones, stop responding consistently to sounds or voices in their environment, or ask for repeated explanations regularly.

Auditory Processing Disorder

Even with non-impaired hearing, a child might express difficulty in following verbal instructions, appear distracted in group conversations, or show delays in understanding spoken language.
