Pediatric Therapies
Physical Therapy
We use engaging, individualized treatment plans to help children build the physical skills they need to navigate their world with greater confidence.

Whether your child is learning to walk for the first time or overcoming challenges from a medical condition, we partner with families to create personalized, playful therapy that encourages confidence and independence.
What is Physical Therapy?
Pediatric physical therapy focuses on helping children improve their ability to move, play, and participate fully in daily life. At Heartspring, our licensed physical therapists use evidence-based techniques to support each child’s motor development, from building strength and balance to improving posture, mobility, and coordination.
Gross Motor Development
We focus on large movements (like crawling, walking, jumping, and running) that help children explore their environment and engage in everyday activities with greater ease.
Adaptive Equipment
When needed, we introduce tools like braces, walkers, or standers to support your child’s movement and posture, enhancing their ability to safely participate in every environment.
Activities of Daily Living
From getting dressed to climbing stairs, therapy supports the physical skills children need to complete everyday tasks and become more independent at home and in the community.
Recreational and Play Skills
We incorporate fun, purposeful play into therapy sessions to help children strengthen their bodies while developing the skills needed to participate in recess, games, sports, and peer activities.
Motor Planning
Children learn how to coordinate their movements and follow through with multi-step physical tasks, making it easier to perform actions like catching a ball or riding a bike.
Could Any of These Diagnoses Apply to Your Child?
Whether your child has a known diagnosis or you notice a potential motor delay, a pediatric physical therapy evaluation can help identify the best path forward. Early intervention builds on your child’s strengths and guides steady progress, increasing their chances of addressing physical challenges before they can become barriers.
Developmental Delay
When a child is behind in reaching physical milestones, physical therapy helps them catch up by building strength, coordination, and mobility at their own pace.
Toe Walking
If your child frequently walks on their toes, we address underlying strength or flexibility issues to support a more effective walking pattern.
Torticollis/Plagiocephaly
We use gentle, guided exercises and positioning techniques to improve neck mobility and promote symmetrical head shape and movement.
Difficulty Walking
Whether due to muscle weakness, coordination challenges, or structural concerns, our therapists help children build the skills they need to walk safely and confidently.
Lack of Coordination
We work on improving how children control and time their movements so they can better participate in activities like sports, biking, and playground play.
Generalized Weakness
If your child has low overall muscle tone or strength, we develop targeted, fun exercises that help build their ability to move, lift, and play.
High/Low Tone
We help manage differences in muscle tone, so your child can improve control, balance, and functional movement.
Our Therapeutic Approaches
Our physical therapy program offers personalized evaluations and treatment plans that are carefully designed to match each child’s unique strengths, needs, and developmental goals, ensuring therapy is both meaningful and effective.
Strength Training
Our therapists guide children through exercises that safely build muscle strength—helping them sit upright, move more easily, and stay active with less fatigue.
Endurance Training
Through fun, motivating activities, we help children improve stamina so they can participate longer in play, school, and physical activity without getting worn out too quickly.
Balance
Balance-focused activities help children stay steady while standing, walking, or playing — reducing falls and improving confidence in their movements.
Gross Motor Skills
We target foundational skills like walking, climbing, or jumping, to help children gain control over their bodies and reach important physical milestones.
Gait Training
Using therapeutic exercises, specialized equipment, and cues, we help children learn safer, more effective ways to walk, improving their posture, step quality, and walking endurance.
